Qubole Service Offering QDS Health Cloud

HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996) is a United States legislation that provides data privacy and security provisions for safeguarding medical and patient health information (herein referred to as “PHI”). In 2013, the HIPAA Omnibus Rule was put in place by the Department of Health and Human Services to implement modifications to HIPAA in accordance with the guidelines set forth in 2009 by the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act concerning the responsibilities of business associates of covered entities.

Qubole working with our partners has evaluated these requirements and implemented a separate data service specifically for our customers who are interested in big data and who happen to be Covered Entities as defined by the various Health Insurance legislation.

The following services are defined as being eligible for PHI workloads and processing:

Qubole Environment: https://wellness.qubole.com

• Hadoop 2
• Presto
• Spark

• Airflow
• Hive
• Qubole AIR (Alerts, Insights, Recommendations)

These services are ONLY authorized for PHI workloads within the environments specified above and no other Qubole service environments.  To qualify for Qubole HIPAA Competency a customer must also sign on with Qubole (MSA, Terms) and we must agree to Business Associates (BAA) Terms and configure HIPAA guidelines.  For more information please reach out to your account executive or Contact Us.
