Ashish Thusoo Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Before co-founding Qubole, Ashish ran Facebook’s Data Infrastructure team; under his leadership the team built one of the largest data processing and analytics platforms in the world. This platform achieved not just the bold aim of making data accessible to analysts, engineers and data scientists, but drove the “big data” revolution. In the process of scaling Facebook’s Big Data infrastructure, he helped drive the creation of a host of tools, technologies and templates that are used industry wide today.

Joydeep Sen Sarma Co-Founder and Head of Qubole India

Before co-founding Qubole, Joydeep worked at Facebook where he boot-strapped the data processing ecosystem based on Hadoop. He started the Apache Hive project and led Facebook’s Data Infrastructure team. Joydeep was also a key contributor on the Facebook Messages architecture team and brought the power of Apache Hbase to Facebook and to the transactional and reporting backends for Facebook Credits.

Dean Neese Chief Financial Officer

Dean brings 25+ years of executive experience and management consulting delivering hyper growth. Prior to Qubole, Dean served as CFO of Shape Security where he managed finance, human resources, office administration, and selected operational improvements. Prior to Shape, Dean led DocuSign’s international growth strategy through several acquisitions and growth initiatives. BA Princeton; MBA Harvard.

Drew Daniels Chief Information Security Officer and Vice President of Security, Compliance & Privacy

Drew has more than twenty years in the information services/security space and has lead security at a number of companies. Prior to joining Qubole, Drew spent four years leading and growing information security at ClearSlide, an enterprise Software-as-a-Service company. He has also held leadership roles in information security at Microsoft, Shutterfly, Oracle and NetSuite. As the leader of information security at Qubole, Drew has guided programs around a number of critical initiatives that have increased security, trust and protection of crucial assets and information.

Namit Jain

Namit Jain Senior Vice President, Engineering

Namit brings more than two decades of industry experience in data warehousing and big data technologies. Before joining Qubole, Namit worked at Nutanix; where he started the Nutanix India office from scratch and grew it to about 500 people. Prior to that, he spent a few years at Facebook and Oracle. He was part of the data infrastructure group at Facebook and became the first PMC chair for Apache Hive, which is used across the industry. He has been awarded 30+ patents and has publications in many conferences. Namit holds a Masters degree from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelors from IIT Kanpur.

Mohit Bhatnagar Senior Vice President of Product

Mohit Bhatnagar is a tech industry executive with 20+ years of experience in building and leading growth of multiple enterprise infrastructure & software businesses ranging from start-ups to $1B revenue. He has served in GM, product, and engineering leadership roles in marquee technology companies including Netapp, Symantec, McKinsey, and Motorola. At Qubole, Mohit loves working with the dev team to build cool products and work with the field and the customers to realize the benefits of cloud, big data, and analytics. Mohit holds a doctorate in electrical engineering from NC State University and a bachelor’s from IIT Kanpur. He has been awarded 25+ patents for his work and has published more than 30 papers in peer-reviewed journals.

Utpal Bhatt Senior Vice President, Marketing

Utpal brings 20+ years of Marketing and Product Management experience at high-growth start-ups and large companies. Before Qubole, Utpal led marketing at Neo4j where he was instrumental in catapulting Graph Database as the fastest growing database category, driving significant technology adoption and revenue growth. Prior to Neo4j, Utpal was at Actuate, where he held executive positions in General Management, Marketing, and Product Management. Utpal has a Bachelor in Electrical Engineering and a Masters in Physics from Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani (India) and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business.

Andreas Walter Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales

Andreas is a seasoned enterprise sales executive with 20+ years experience and a tremendous passion for data and analytics. After serving various Finance and Development leadership roles in startups like DecisionPoint as well as marquee companies like Lufthansa and Nokia, Andreas most recently lead enterprise sales organizations at Teradata and SAP, serving some of the largest high-tech customers in Silicon Valley and the US. Andreas holds a bachelor in computer science and economics from the Berufsakademie in Villingen-Schwenningen, Germany.

Doug de Urioste Senior Vice President, Key Accounts

Doug is a seasoned Silicon Valley sales executive, bringing 30+ years of experience in high tech sales to Qubole. After spending the first seven years of his career in engineering and manufacturing, Doug made the decision to move into sales. He launched his sales career with the Hewlett-Packard company and never looked back. He has held executive roles at Cirrus Logic, Embarcadero Technologies, and Involver (acquired by Oracle). Doug also spent a decade running his own internet consultancy firm developing an early SaaS-based web content and social media platform. He pursued his BS EECS at the University of California, Berkeley.

Devdutt Yellurkar
Partner, CRV

Since joining CRV in 2008, Devdutt has pioneered the firm’s investments in the next generation of SaaS companies. He brings the experience of building two high-growth tech companies. Prior to joining CRV, Devdutt was the co-founder and CEO of Yantra, a leading eCommerce technology company that was acquired by a division of AT&T. Prior to that, Devdutt was SVP Sales & Marketing at Infosys, leading them from a small startup to a highly successful public company.

Arif Janmohamed
Partner, Lightspeed Venture Partners

Arif Janmohamed brings significant Big Data, Cloud, and SaaS expertise to the Qubole board. He focuses primarily on investments in the areas of cloud and datacenter technologies, as well as enterprise mobile and SaaS solutions. Prior to joining Lightspeed, he worked in the Corporate Business Development group at Cisco Systems. Before joining Cisco, he was with Novitas Capital, an early-stage venture capital firm. Earlier in his career, he worked in technical development and product management roles at WebTV (acquired by MSFT), Andes Networks (acquired by SUNW), and Sun Microsystems. Arif holds an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and a BSc in Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Canada.

Rama Sekhar
Partner, Norwest Venture Partners

Rama Sekhar, Partner, Norwest Venture Partners focuses primarily on early to late stage venture investments in enterprise and infrastructure, including cloud, networking, enterprise mobile, storage and security. Rama’s current investments include Bitglass, Exablox, Pertino Networks, and Qubole. Rama was previously an investor in Morta Security (acquired by Palo Alto Networks). Before joining NVP in 2009, Rama was with Comcast Ventures, where he focused on early and growth stage investment opportunities in the enterprise and infrastructure sectors. Prior to Comcast Ventures, Rama was a Product Manager at Cisco Systems, where he defined product strategy and roadmaps for the GSR 12000 Series and CRS-1 routers, $1B networking products in the carrier and data center markets. Previously, Rama was a Sales Engineer at Cisco Systems supporting AT&T, where he sold the core and edge networking equipment that comprises AT&T’s national IP backbone.

Somesh Dash
Partner, IVP

Somesh Dash joined IVP in March of 2005. He focuses primarily on later-stage investments in Internet, software, wireless, and technology-enabled services companies. Prior to IVP, Somesh was an Analyst in the Corporate Finance Division of Credit Suisse’s Technology Investment Banking Group. While at Credit Suisse, Somesh focused on strategic financing initiatives for a number of public and private technology companies. Prior to joining Credit Suisse, Somesh worked for Luxmi Capital, an early stage venture capital fund focused on digital media investments. He also worked for the Corporate Development Division of Sony Entertainment Television (SET) in Mumbai, India.
