The appointment of Suresh Ramaswamy will help Qubole scale its multi-tenant SaaS platform and develop highly responsive big data platforms to cater to industry demands.

Qubole, the big data-as-a-service company, today announced that it has appointed Suresh Ramaswamy as Qubole’s Head of Web Services. In this role, Suresh will help Qubole scale the web services division which engineers and operates its multi-tenant platform to cater to a rapidly growing customer base across the world. As customers look to Qubole to provide a secure, stable and highly responsive solution to their analytics needs, Suresh’s leadership will play a critical role in Qubole’s commitment to help businesses meet their custom big data requirements. Suresh will report directly to Joydeep Sen Sarma, Co-Founder and Head, Qubole India, while helping Qubole expand its services to more AWS regions as well as expand its expertise on a host of other cloud platforms.

“Qubole is the only company that enables customers to perform big-data analytics in the three major public cloud environments, and offers a unified interface for a growing list of open-source data processing engines. Ensuring the scalability, elasticity, availability, and stability of these features in the Qubole Data Service (QDS) is critical to successful customer deployments” said Joydeep Sen Sarma, Co-Founder and Head, Qubole India. “We welcome Suresh on board and are confident that under his leadership, our web services division will give customers the best choices in cloud based data processing.”

Suresh brings more than 2 decades of industry experience in business intelligence, data warehousing and managing large-scale and complex software systems across companies like Lucent Technologies (AT&T Bell Labs) and Oracle. At Yahoo, he led a team providing large scale data analytics for various Yahoo platforms. Prior to taking on his current role with Qubole, Suresh was the India engineering lead for the mint.com (Intuit) team responsible for their migration to AWS.

“I look forward to the helping Qubole’s customers find solutions to their specific big data challenges and growing our expertise across other cloud providers like GCE, Azure and virtual private networks, said Suresh Ramaswamy, Director, Web Services at Qubole. “The web services division will help customers realize the true potential of their data by reducing latency and stronger adherence to SLAs across multiple cloud platforms. We will also focus on finding strong technical talent with the aim to grow a high-expertise web services team.”

This announcement comes on the heels of the appointment of Andrew Daniels, Qubole’s first Chief Information Security Officer and vice president of security, compliance and privacy. Earlier in 2016, Qubole also announced a $30 million Series C funding round to help extend product leadership and expand customer acquisition in the APAC and EU regions. India has emerged a key market with the growth of the Indian e-commerce industry and Digital India initiatives.
