Qubole: Cheaper, Faster, Better Cloud-Native Data Platform

An Intellyx Brain Candy Update

Since we last wrote about Qubole in October 2017, the company has focused its cloud-native data platform on three core characteristics: cost, performance, and sophistication.

To help its customers reduce cloud costs, Qubole is able to optimize instance types, including the provisioning of AWS spot instances and their equivalent in Azure and GCP. Qubole also optimizes configurations across clusters for improved cost optimization and performance.

Qubole’s custom-built caching, technology-agnostic data pipelines, as well as its automated serverless capabilities also improve the performance of the platform, giving admins up to ten times the productivity as compared to competing platforms.

Where Qubole would prefer to compete, however, is on the sophistication of the analysis its customers can perform on its platform.

Qubole leverages its deep expertise in open source big data infrastructure and the ability to conduct ACID transactions across database engines to provide descriptive, diagnostics, predictive, and prescriptive analytics to its customers, thus increasing its customers’ ‘data savviness.’
