Ashish Thusoo

Before starting Qubole Ashish ran the Data Infrastructure team at Facebook. Under his leadership the team created one of the largest data processing and analytics platform in the world - a platform that achieved the bold aim of making data accessible to analysts, engineers and data scientists alike within the company. In the process he helped drive the creation of tools, technologies and templates for successful "big data" deployments - artifacts that have become mainstream in the "big data" revolution. He is also the co-creator of Apache Hive and served as the project's founding Vice President at the Apache Software Foundation. He started his working career as an engineer at Oracle where he contributed heavily to many core components of Oracle RDBMS and learnt the art of building successful products. Along the way he was also an early engineer at an identity management startup.
He is a firm believer in the power of flat and fast moving organizations which place emphasis on team work and the need to challenge the status quo. Ashish has a Bachelor's degree in CS from IIT-Delhi and a Master's degree in CS from University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Joydeep Sen Sarma
Co-Founder and Head Qubole India
Before starting Qubole - Joydeep worked at Facebook where he boot-strapped the data processing ecosystem based on Hadoop, started the Apache Hive project and led the Data Infrastructure team. Joydeep was a key contributor on the Facebook Messages architecture team that brought Apache HBase to Facebook and to the transactional and reporting backends for Facebook Credits. Joydeep started his career working on Oracle's database kernel and worked on building highly available and scalable file systems at Netapp. In between - he has played founding roles in storage and advertising startups. He cut his teeth building data driven applications as the lead engineer on Yahoo's in-house Recommendation Platform.
Aside from building software, he's passionate about creating great and sustainable organizations. Joydeep has a Bachelor's in CS from IIT-Delhi and a Master's degree in CS from University of Pittsburgh.

Shrikanth Shankar
Before coming to Qubole Shrikanth worked at Oracle for 11+ years. His last position at Oracle was as Director of Development in the BI team where among other things he was one of the main contributors to the Oracle Exalytics effort and helped drive the product from conception to release. Before that he worked in the Database team in the SQL/DSS group where he made significant contributions to many different portions of the Oracle stack ranging from Partitioning, SQL Optimization and SQL/Parallel Execution all the way to the Indexing and Data layers.

Sadiq Shaik
Before joining Qubole, Sadiq managed product and partner strategy at Aster Data, the world's first MPP Datawarehouse with a SQL-MapReduce engine baked in, for 1.5 years. Aster Data was acquired by Teradata in April 2011. Prior to Aster, he worked at Oracle for 11 years in Engineering, Product Management, Business Development, and Pre-Sales roles.
